Here the Kefalari or Erasinos river has its source, the water coming underground through the rocks from the Stymphalian Lake, some 30 km away. It is one of the few rivers of the Argive plain that bear water all year long. In the village, the water is directed to a nice lake, but in summer there is not very much water. - At the site of the spring a church of St. Mary has been erected. The chapel of "the life-giving source" sits at the entrance to a 60m deep cave, one of the very few Greek sites that has been used already in paleolithic and mesolithic times. |

Below the church are a few tavernas. In one of them you can have out-of-the-way dishes like this delicious pasta - at least it was so in 2017. |
